As the name suggests, Onkyo is a Japanese company. It specialises in the manufacture of high-fidelity audio products. Founded in 1946, it began by manufacturing transformers for loudspeakers before expanding its range to become a brand renowned for its audio products. The brand then refocused on the high-end segment, with an offer that suits movie enthusiasts and audiophiles. The brand is best known for its A/V projector amps, which we present here.
Receivers in 3 ranges
The brand caters for all budgets with its SR, NR, and RZ ranges. The SR models are the brand's entry-level, slimline, economical models, perfect for a small living room setup. They support up to 7.2 or 5.5.2 surround sound and accommodate Dolby Atmos and 4K/60p formats. The NR series adds to the SR's performance with integration facilities (Chromecast integrated, Airplay 2, Deezer, Work with Sonos, etc.) and the ability to stream content in multi-room. The RZ models are equipped with the best components to deliver a superb experience, richer than that of the first two ranges. They also have the most advanced certifications, including THX Ultra. On the sound side, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) technology enables Onkyo's amplifiers to reduce noise and improve the linearity of the frequency response, resulting in a more accurate and immersive sound experience.
